Since 1989, Akvaplan-niva has
carried out more than 60 baseline and monitoring surveys of offshore oil
and gas
activities.
Environmental Impact and Risk assessments
are key areas of expertise in Akvaplan-niva.
The company has extensive
experience in (EIA) and Risk Analyses (ERA) in connection with offshore
drilling activities, shipping, construction of pipelines,
decommissioning, harbours and onshore terminals, and pre-entry surveys
supporting the evaluation of potential
engagement in novel areas.
Akvaplan-niva also provides services related to oil spill
prevention and cleanup, including sensitivity
assessment and mapping,
contingency planning, and environmental damage and recovery assessments.
Akvaplan-nivas research
activities are focussed on understanding the impacts of petroleum
activities on Arctic marine ecosystems. Our in-house research facilities
include analytical laboratories (effect parameters, lipids,
hydrocarbons, etc.), an arctic ecotoxocology laboratory. Our
temperature controlled facilities make us able to keep
arctic animals and carry out experimental work at low temperatures.
